New tiles you add, and "Say this instead" phrases, use the device voice until you record one. For the most human sound, record your own voice on those tiles (✏️ Edit → tap a tile → 🎙️ Record voice). Speed and pitch only change the device voice.

Get a more natural, human-sounding voice (free)

iPad / iPhone: Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices → English. Pick a voice marked Premium or Enhanced (for example Serena, Ava, Zoe or Jamie) and tap ⬇️ to download it.

Android: Settings → search "Text-to-speech" → Preferred engine: Speech Services by Google → ⚙️ → Install voice data → English, then choose a voice.

Then close and reopen Hear Me AAC. It picks the best voice automatically, or you can choose one above. ★ marks the natural-sounding voices.

For the most human sound of all, record your own voice on the tiles you use most (✏️ Edit → tap a tile → 🎙️ Record voice).
